A.F.M. Abdur Rahman

Justice A.F.M. Abdur Rahman is sitting Judge of the High court division of Supreme Court of Bangladesh. He was appointed on 27 April 2003 by President of Bangladesh Iajuddin Ahmed, while he was a practicing Advocate of the Bangladesh Supreme Court, and confirmed on 27 April 2005. He is a Barrister-at-Law of Lincoln's Inn, London, England, having his call to the English Bar on 26 July 2001.[1] He will retire on 4 July 2018.[2]

Family Identity

Rahman hails from Munshi Bari of village Baluakandi, Gazaria Upazila, Munshiganj District. His father was Dr. Abdul Gaffar Khan, who was the 5th muslim medical graduate of Calcutta Medical College , passed in the year 1930, with distinction and later became eminent medical practitioner in Garden Reach, 24 Parganas, West Bengal, India till 1960, when he returned to East Pakistan (present day Bangladesh), and served as physician and social worker by earlier founded Gozaria Thana Jonokollan Shomity at Calcutta in 1948. He also served as medical officer of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka from 1964 to 1966.
